The Goddard Caddis is always a favorite because it floats like a cork, is highly durable, has a really great silhouette on the surface, and it straight out catches fish. Next time your buddy is fishing Elk Hair Caddis, put one of these on and see how the two compare. You might end up a Goddard fan as well.
The beauty of the Goddard caddis lies in its versatility. It can be dead-drifted, swung or stripped across the surface while remaining afloat. In larger sizes, it can even double as a grasshopper imitation. The pattern excels in fast, turbulent water, long flat pools and stillwater environments much like those for which it was originally intended. When treated with floatant, the highly visible deer hair makes a great strike indicator in a dry-dropper rig, while continuing to attract fish on its own.
