Directions:
- Remove Oxygen absorber and discard.
- Cover onions with warm water.
- Let stand 10 minutes, and then drain.
One quarter-cup of dehydrated chopped onions equals approximately one cup of chopped fresh onions, or one medium-sized onion.
Simmering Chili
- 2 lbs lean ground beef
- 1 46oz can tomato juice
- 1 29oz can tomato sauce
- 1 15oz can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 15oz can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 tablespoons Augason Farms Dehydrated Chopped Onions
- 1/4 Augason Farms Dehydrated Diced Red & Green Peppers
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon iodized salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 cup chili powder
In a medium skillet, cook ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Drain, and crumble. In a large pot combine the ground beef, tomato juice, tomato sauce, kidney beans, pinto beans, onions, bell peppers, cayenne pepper, sugar, oregano, ground black pepper, salt, cumin and chili powder. Bring to a boil, and simmer on medium low heat for 1.5 hours. Enjoy!
